Nature and Beauty goes hand in hand, and when we find something attractive we wish to posses it. But every thing in life cannot be possessed.. hmm do u really think so ? well, i don't think so .. we definitely cant as when it comes to nature (natural surroundings) it keeps changing with time,taking its own course. But definitely we can cherish them in our memories with the help of a photograph ;) for the life time. Aah lets not get too philosophical about the entire stuff.
let me make it easy .....
I love nature , traveling is my hobby and clicking pics where ever i go is my passion!!! beside the passion in my Love life :P hahahaha
OK so, not waisting more time by going off track .. I'm simply here to share my experiences about my last trip and few beautiful clicks i took on the go.
Shillong is what i am talking about. Located in the North East India (the east Khasi Hills ) Meghalaya. Also once known as "Scotland" of India (sadly not any more). Due to growing population and Geographic changes /climatic the place is loosing its beauty. {now plz dnt ask me the facts and figures - i'm nt the wikipedia}
I remember the first time i visited Shillong....... and i said wow!!! Green lushes hills,breath-taking Valleys, magnificent water falls, deep dense colourful Forests, soothing climate, fresh air (pollution free) i felt ya i got a piece of heaven right down here On Planet Earth. Almost on the urge of gaining MOKSHA!!! oops that was 10years back.
Now.... 2012 ..u see malls/traffic/pollution/climate is much hotter now. That's in the city iam talking about the police bazaar(the famous tourist spot). However, If you are an adventure freak try visiting more deeper into the valleys (ghats) u'l experience beauty at its best. The nature has concealed its beauty.. simply impeccable.
As my ancestors were khasi , i developed a special interest in learning more about the culture and tradition about the tribe. Though its not much different than any other regular north eastern tribe but the history of each tourist location made me go more curious. It charged up my curiosity nerves digging up information about each and every place i visited taking more and more of photos in the ever best possible way.
Then i came across This weird looking hill (reminded me of an Hollywood flick "Descent") hmm weird wouldn't be appropriate .. i can say a Huge - gigantic ROCK, which in fact looked like a Giant! When spoke to the locals many stories popped up.. one even said that its a Giant Indeed.. lol and few said there is a huge giant trapped inside the rock. the small rock which is on top of the hill is the only way in/out which has been sealed to keep that demon inside trapped for ever. what ever they said dint made sense but definitely made me imagine more.... Urrg.. wish i was a film producer :( My first horror flick would have been shot there the Hindi version of DESCENT (awe that movie is one of my Fav :) ) The Giant rock is Called "Khoh-Ramhah"
"Khoh-ram" or " Motrop"
They are a couple of few more rocks similar to that shape. And during the Monsoons the water flows between the two rocks making the sight Hauntingly beautiful. If you zoom in the picture and try to focus on the background(the watery area). You will be surprised to know that is Bangladesh. Yes!!! it is Bangladesh which shares India's border and Shockingly i also heard from the localities that people walk across the border without any security check hmmm (no comments).
Back to my clicks.. This rock is located in the area called "Sohra" its one of the famous tourist spot. It drives visitors around the world for its scenic beauty and the naturally shaped rocks due to the heavy rainfall. They are many water falls around the area one of them is called "Noikalikai" falls. This water falls has its own tale to say.. as spoken by the localities "nokalikai" is the place from where a mother killed herself after killing her husband as he being the cause of her child's death. Hmm confusing? at first it was confusing to me. But the detailed story reminded me of a psycho flick.. Urrg GROSS!!! ya it is indeed.
The story goes like this . It seems they belong to a very poor family. The mother used to go to work, breaking rocks and the father(husband) used to stay back home doing the chors' taking care of they infant. One fine day the Father(husband) got a mad-fit! chopped his own child and cooked it,packed lunch for his wife made her eat. when she returned back home during the dusk. Enquired about they child and discovered that she was fed her own baby by her retarded husband.She lost her temper Chopped him to death and killed herself by jumping from the cliff of the water fall. Since then the waterfall was named after her (dedicated to her tragic story). Its also believed that her restless soul still been seen sometimes by the people around that area.
"Noahkalikai Falls"
This is the Arieal view of the Waterfalls. Magnificent isint it!!!
"Noahkalikai Falls"
While travelling around this area you will come across many waterfalls. There is a saying that if u have visited the khasi hills u cannot miss out on the "seven sisters" referred to the seven water falls which connect to one single fall.
I got to stop here will come up with many more pics and stories from "Mysteries of Shillong" ;) Remember You have seen it first seen it here By Nikki :*
My next Story will be on The "Dain-thlin Falls" named after a Giant Monster from "Sohra" which is also known as "Chirapunjee" .......
